Behavioral

The interview process at NYP was pretty straightforward. It mainly consisted of common, typical behavioral questions. Nothing technical was asked, and I'd say the difficulty was average, nothing too over the top or crazy. I definitely felt comfortable speaking with the hiring manager; it didn't feel like a suffocating experience.

Behavioral

I applied online and after a few weeks, a recruiter emailed me to say I was moving on to the next steps. There was a phone interview, and the recruiter asked for my availability. However, she didn't confirm the time by email and just called when she wanted to interview me. The phone interview was rushed, and she gave me a date for in-person interviews. Since I wasn't available on that date, I requested alternative times, even offering to miss classes if necessary. She said she'd get back to me, but I never heard anything. I tried emailing and leaving voicemails, but received no response. Honestly, a direct 'no' would have been better.

Behavioral Technical

I applied online and then got a phone call for the first round interview. After that, I was offered a second round interview at the NYC headquarters. This involved two 20-minute interviews, one for each department I was interested in. My first interview went great, the people were interested, professional, and reasonable. However, the second interview with the IT department was really frustrating and disappointing. The interviewer made several sexist remarks about women, using stereotypes and being condescending. He seemed like he meant well and was nice, but he was totally unaware that his comments were outdated and offensive. On top of that, he spent most of the time just thinking out loud and gave me hardly any time to ask or answer questions. I was really disappointed with NYP's choice of interviewer, and it was hard to get past that.
