Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York University Abu Dhabi.
Research Fellow
I had an interview with a panel of interviewers, which included someone from HR, someone from the division, and a previous fellow. I was asked a series of questions, and then I had some time at the end to ask my own questions.
- In your previous roles, what aspects of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion did you practice or embody?
Research Assistant
It was a pretty standard interview process, but they did get into specifics later on about the role, like the areas I'm interested in and my knowledge of the field. The interviewers were nice and professional, making it a good experience overall.
- What motivated you to pursue a career in this field?
- Can you elaborate on the specific aspects of this role that appeal to you?
- What is your understanding of this particular role?
Research Assistant
I applied online through the Kawader Research Assistantship program and emailed in my application. The next day, I got an interview request for the following day with the principal investigators of the lab. It was a casual interview that included a lab tour. I also met the rest of the team and talked about current research. It was a good chance to feel out the lab dynamics and see if it was a good fit. Everyone was friendly and answered my questions.
- Could you tell me about your areas of interest?
- In your opinion, what qualities make you a good fit for this role?
