Technical Assistant
The vibe was great from the jump, everyone was super nice and made me feel welcome. It was chill but still professional, and they hit me with some good technical questions relevant to the job. There was also a written test that was straightforward and fair. Overall, the crew was awesome, the whole thing went smoothly, and it felt like a respectful and well-put-together process. Left feeling good about it!
- Can you describe how you'd help a student having trouble with a technical filmmaking skill, such as operating a camera?
Technical Assistant
I had a zoom interview with two supervisors. They were both nice. The questions were mainly about my photography experience and knowledge about cameras, printers, studio, and strobes. It was an easy and quick interview.
- Could you tell me about your photography experience in terms of years?
- What is your experience with cameras, printers, studios, and strobes?
Human Resources Manager
I applied online and was contacted by HR a day or two later to set up an interview. When I got there a bit early, I expected to wait for the hiring manager. But I ended up waiting nearly 45 minutes. The person who scheduled me finally came and took me to a theater to meet the hiring manager. She took a long time, texting and calling the hiring manager, before saying they were in a meeting. I ended up meeting with someone else from HR instead. They interviewed me professionally but mentioned I'd be replacing them. It seems their HR department is disorganized. It's disrespectful to keep an interviewee waiting like that. I didn't even meet the actual hiring manager after traveling and waiting almost an hour past my interview time, and the person I did meet won't be with the company much longer. No follow-up or apology was sent. My first impression of NYFA was terrible. I'd advise others to avoid them. I'm glad I didn't get the job.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Bursar Assistant
I was contacted a few days after applying. The HR team was very helpful and detailed in their e-mail instructions. When I arrived, the HR person I'd been emailing greeted me and offered me water. The Manager then explained the job, daily tasks, and asked about my previous experience. A few days later, HR contacted me again to set up a second interview with the Director and CEO, with detailed instructions again. They were intimidating but nice. The next day, HR called to offer me the position, providing details on compensation, schedule, and paperwork.
- Can you share an instance of providing outstanding customer service?
- Which movie do you like the best and what's the reason?
- What do you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?
