First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York & Company.
Store Manager
It was a pretty chill vibe, asking me direct questions. The Store Manager and I had a good chat. They wanted to know my strengths and how positive I am. Then there was a background check and an interview with the District Manager. It felt good and I'm excited about it.
- Tell me about your strengths.
Assistant Store Manager
Had a quick short interview with the store manager, which was great and we totally had the same way of managing which would have worked. Then I traveled 1 hour from the location I interviewed for to have an interview with the District Manager. That interview was great but once she told me the amount of hours I would HAVE to work for a low salary, it was not worth the offer. Plus no wonder they can never keep employees, the pay is horrible and there are never enough hours for the associates. Plus they Push for Credit Cards wayyyyy to hard!
- What questions would you ask a Sales Associate to determine if they would be the right person for your store?
Store Manager
It was informal and casual. A recruiter reached out after seeing my resume online. The first interview was a phone call that lasted about an hour. Then I was invited for an in-person interview with the district and regional managers, which was about two hours long. We talked a lot about managing metrics and building a team.
- What are your experiences with driving metrics?
- How do you approach team building?
