Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York City Law Department.
Intern
It wasn't a great experience. The interviewer seemed uninterested, and the questions showed it. What was really frustrating was that a friend from another school had a really nice interviewer who asked personal questions. The moment I said hello on Zoom, things seemed to go south.
- Can you discuss your writing sample?
Fellow
I had one phone interview with two attorneys. Unfortunately, I did not have a positive interview process experience and I would not want to work for the Law Department.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Intern
It was a pretty relaxed interview process. I had a good chat with the HR person. They asked me stuff based on my resume, cover letter, and writing samples. The interview was in person, and they made me feel really comfortable.
- Can you talk about your resume?
- Can you discuss your writing samples?
