I had two virtual interviews where I spoke with people who are higher up. The questions were pretty standard, nothing too difficult if you prepare beforehand. Everyone was pretty nice and asked about my experience and how it applies to being a confidential investigator.

It was about 30 minutes and they asked about basic OOP concepts and some general questions. They also asked about programming languages you have on your resume. There were also some basic behavioral questions. The process should be straightforward if you have some basic knowledge of the languages you mentioned.

Applied online for the HHC confidential investigator role and was contacted two weeks later for a panel interview. It was conducted by two senior officials. The interview was tough because they are looking for people with experience, not those who need training or are transitioning careers. It wasn't a typical interview, with many unorthodox and deep questions. The interviewers seemed to throw curveballs to catch me off guard.

I interviewed over Google Meets with three employees. They asked fairly standard behavioral questions, and a few questions about the department's mission and areas of focus. I was ghosted and never heard back about whether I got the position, even though they said I'd hear within a week. Honestly, if DoI cares about integrity, they should let candidates know their status.
