Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York and Company.
Sales Associate
The interview process was pretty standard and not too tough. They asked typical questions about any prior experience I had and how I'd handle different customer service scenarios.
- What customer service experience do you have?
Sales Associate
It's a pretty casual interview. Typically, you'll go through one or two rounds. They might throw a curveball and ask you to sell a random item, like how I was asked to sell a stapler. A good strategy is to ask the 'customer' some questions first to figure out the best way to show them why the item is useful for them.
- Can you sell me this stapler?
- Describe a time you resolved a conflict at work.
Sales Associate
We will have a face to face interview that will last about 20-30 minutes. The questions are fairly general. Make sure to reference past experience and problem solving skills. Also mention your ability to multitask efficiently while focusing on customer experience.
- Tell me about a time you had to make a difficult decision at work and how you handled it.
