First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New Sector Alliance.
Fellow
The first step was a 30-minute phone chat with someone who was part of the fellowship before. Then, there was a 45-minute Skype call with the program manager. They got back to me with a decision really quickly.
- Could you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe a time you had a conflict and how you handled it.
- How did you interact with your supervisors, and what would they say about you?
Fellow
You start by submitting your application materials on their website. Someone reaches out and contacts you regarding your application. Then, you will be put in touch with an alum for your first interview. Upon successful completion of your second interview, you are then scheduled for another interview with a New Sector staff member. The last step is to get accepted into the program. After being accepted into the program, you then interview with host sites to find the right fit for your summer.
- What do you like most about the program?
- What do you hope to get out of this summer?
Fellow
After you submit your application, you might be invited for an interview during the Winter. You have multiple location options across the US, but PiA won't pay for your travel. You'll find out if you're moving on by March. Teachers get assigned a post. If you're looking for an NGO role, PiA will 'nominate' you, and then the host company will interview you, likely on Skype. Once they approve, you'll officially get the post.
- Can you share an instance where you prioritized building a relationship over completing a task?
