First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New Horizons Worldwide.
Account Executive
I had a phone call with a recruiter, who is based in Michigan, to discuss my past jobs. Then, I had an interview that same week with a sales manager in Chicago. The manager looked over my resume and told me about the company. The interview was pretty short. When they asked if I had questions, I had a few. It seemed like the manager didn't fully understand or answer my questions, which was a red flag, especially when they mentioned a high turnover rate and that everyone there had been working for less than a year. After my questions, I talked to one of the top Account Executives about their experience. They mostly said the same things as the sales manager but with a bit more detail. Lastly, I met with the general manager, who asked me some new questions about why I'm interested in sales and how long I've been looking for a job.
- What draws you to a career in sales?
- Could you share what other positions you've applied for?
- How would you define sales?
Account Executive
It was a huge undertaking but I really appreciate all the levels of questions asked. It included a phone screen, a face to face meeting, a test, a tour, a presentation, some rep interviews, and shadowing with a rep. All good exercises to make sure, mutually, this is the place you want to work. The CEO is very accessible and the manager is an open book. All set up by HR.
- Be prepared with questions about your long-term aspirations AND what you should accomplish in 30, 60, and 90 days.
- Know what a 'hunter' profile looks like and ensure you meet it.
- Make sure you meet some other sales reps.
Account Executive
A recruiter reached out initially, but unfortunately, our scheduled phone interview didn't happen, and they didn't get back to me after that. However, when we did connect, the recruiter was super nice and gave good feedback. I was also supposed to meet with both sales managers, but I was about 20 minutes late, which might have messed up the scheduling. The sales manager I did meet was awesome, really informative, a bit casual, but super upfront about the job. The office seemed quiet, but everyone looked happy and productive.
- Can you discuss your professional background?
- What skills and credentials do you possess?
- How effective are you at developing new business opportunities?
