Mortgage Loan Officer
I applied through Glassdoor and they called me back the same day to schedule an interview. The first interview was on the phone, and I still have a video interview to do.
- Tell me about your background and why you are interested in this position.
Mortgage Loan Officer
It was an easy process. I interviewed with a recruiter first, then with a manager. They got back to me the same day with an offer. The manager discussed a lot of information with me.
- What motivated your career choice in the mortgage industry?
Mortgage Loan Officer
Had a good first chat with the recruiter. Then, I had a video interview with two of the hiring managers. One of them made me feel really at ease, but the other one came across as really condescending and seemed to be trying to trick me with my answers. I couldn't see him on video because he said he was having connection issues. I tried to be my genuine self, friendly, and authentic throughout. I don't think faking it or memorizing answers from YouTube makes a good employee, but it might make someone good at putting on a show. There are other things to consider when finding the right person. Based on my resume, I'm a self-starter. My previous jobs had tough hiring processes that I got through. I approached the interview the same way I'd treat a borrower – with genuine sincerity, which is key to building trust and getting repeat business. I was really disappointed when the recruiter told me my answers weren't thorough enough. That's because my past jobs weren't corporate; they were in customer service in the travel and music industries, so the questions didn't really fit. I spent weeks researching NAF before applying and they were the only company I sent my resume to because I really liked their values, the family atmosphere, and their laid-back vibe, which I definitely didn't get from one of the hiring managers.
