First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New Age Marketing Inc.
Sales Representative
The interviewer was very welcoming. They inquired about my previous sales experience, asked what I do in my personal time, and then asked why I felt I'd be a good fit for the role.
- Tell me about your sales experience.
- What activities do you engage in outside of work?
- Why do you believe you are a suitable candidate for this job?
Marketing Associate
Got a call for an in-person interview like a week after applying on LinkedIn. The job description was misleading, it's more of a training program to get you into a leadership role after a few months, which wasn't mentioned initially. They scheduled multiple short in-person interviews, spaced out. I was called back for another round just as I was leaving. They didn't really discuss my qualifications, even though the interviewer said a team would review my answers. The interviewer had only been in this role for 2 months, so not exactly HR. They should be more upfront about the job's actual purpose instead of revealing it piece by piece.
- Do you have a learning mentality?
- Why does New Age need someone like you?
Marketing
So I got to the office and no one was at the front, but a guy showed up like right after I sat down. He was super nice and professional, and asked for my last name to confirm my appointment. Then he asked for my resume and told me to fill out this one page application, which I thought was kinda weird since I already applied online. I handed it back and then another guy came out to interview me. He was a bit more serious at first, but I think that was just a tactic because he warmed up when I started asking questions and he was talking about the company's day-to-day stuff. The interview was like 30 minutes and he said we'd schedule a second one at the end.
- What made you decide to apply for this marketing job, given your background wasn't in marketing or business?
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Brand Marketing Representative
Out of college with a Marketing Degree, this opportunity seemed great at first. The first interview was with the CEO, which was a cool experience. He made the role sound really hands-on and interesting. After that, I saw about 6 other people waiting to interview. The second interview was totally different. It was with a former Territory Brand Manager who acted more like a 'hiring salesman' than an interviewer. I got to the office, and then we drove to a Sam's Club. I met him outside and his first words were, 'what do you see here?'. That's when I found out the job is actually SALES, not a career, selling Direct TV in stores. We then had the interview in the food court, which was weird. He explained the employment levels: for the first year, it's $10/hour plus $165 per sale, framed as a fast track to opening your own firm, which felt like a pyramid scheme red flag. Throughout the interview, he kept looking at the TV, excited about new movies. Back at the office, I had to fill out a form about the interview. When I asked about salary positions, they looked at me strangely and said everyone starts at the same level, 'Even the CEO started there.' I didn't take it. You should know your worth.
- Can you tell me three words to describe yourself?
- In one year, where do you see yourself?
- What leadership roles have you had?
