First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NetSuite.
Business Development Representative
I had two phone interviews - the first was a general one, and the second focused on my language skills. Then, I was invited for an all-day assessment day in person. Some people were sent home early. The day started with a group presentation, followed by two group activities. After that, I had a 3-minute presentation where I had to explain my interest in a NetSuite Sales career and why they should hire me. The final part was an individual interview with a hiring manager. I enjoyed talking to the current Business Development Representatives and learning about the role, which seems to be mostly phone and email communication with potential customers, a bit different than how it was presented in the earlier interviews. We were told we'd hear back in a few days, but it's been 3 weeks with no response despite my multiple follow-ups via email and phone, which was really disappointing and gave me a negative impression of the company. I took time off work for this assessment day and to prepare, and also used holiday time for the phone interviews at their convenience.

It was a pretty tough interview process from the get-go. I got referred by a friend who works at Oracle (not Netsuite). When they said they weren't hiring at Oracle, they shifted my application to Netsuite and a recruiter reached out. She was nice and basically told me to just have a good personality and I'd do well, which wasn't very helpful advice but I thought it would be easy. I was wrong. The online application took a while, especially since it was my first cover letter. I got some materials about a fake coffee shop called SuiteBeans that I had to sell. I prepared by making a script and the call went well because of it. The person on the other end was very direct and showed no emotion. About an hour after that call, I got materials saying I was invited to an all-day interview event. The managers running the interviews were nice; one was the same guy from the phone call. The other was energetic and upbeat. They gave us a tour, we did a team activity where we had to come up with a business expansion proposal, and then we had one-on-one interviews. I felt I did well in the one-on-one part but not as great in the team exercise. I got an email a week later saying they liked my background but didn't have an immediate fit. I asked for feedback but never heard back.

Business Development Representative
I got referred by someone who works there. Someone from the Boston office emailed me and we set up a phone interview. The first interview felt really rushed, maybe because they were interviewing a lot of people that day. I got a second interview with the Denver office and it went way better. I felt good about my chances after talking to the second person. The company paid for my flight to Boston for an on-site interview. They said it would be 3 hours but it was 2 1/2 hours. I met with the office manager, an account manager, 3 current BDRs, the BDR manager, and the top BDR manager. It wasn't that hard of an interview, even though I get nervous. Everyone was nice and it felt like a chat. They asked about my resume and my experiences in school, studying abroad, and work. The most important thing they want to know is WHY YOU WANT TO WORK FOR THEM. They are picky, so having a good answer for that is key. I messed up because I don't have tech experience, so it was hard to show I really wanted to work there.
- Why are you looking to take this job at this time?
- Considering you have no tech background, what makes you want to work for Netsuite?
