Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nestlé USA.
Finance
I had interviews with Hiring Manager 1 one-on-one, then two supervisors together in a two-on-one, and then two employees in another two-on-one. After that, I had another interview with a second manager one-on-one. The interviews mostly covered typical questions you can find online. I noticed that most of the interviewers, besides the Hiring Manager, seemed new to interviewing and were just as nervous as I was. I later found out that there's no real structure to their interview process, and they just pick random people to conduct them, which isn't ideal because it can lead to some really bad hires.
- Can you tell me about your weakness?
- Could you share an instance of teamwork?
- What are your influence skills?
Finance and Accounting
I had a recruiter phone screen, then a phone interview with a finance manager, followed by a 2-day final interview at the Solon, OH location. Nestle paid for all my expenses. They invited about 50 students and I heard they made offers to about 20. They also brought in finance managers and trainees from all over to meet and interview us. It was a great experience and gave a real feel for the program. Most of the questions in the final round were behavioral. I had 3 back-to-back behavioral interviews, each with 2 interviewers. The only non-behavioral question was about my interest in Nestle. They ask follow-up questions, so be ready to explain your answers honestly.
- Describe a time you had to make a critical decision.
- Can you share an instance where you pushed yourself to accomplish a goal?
- What motivates your interest in working for Nestle?
Finance
So first there was a phone call that lasted about 45 minutes, and after that, I was invited to interview at their HQ. The whole thing was pretty straightforward and well-organized. Once I got to HQ, the first day was more laid-back with a tour, an info session, and a networking dinner. The second day was just packed with three interviews, one right after the other.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Why are you interested in this role?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
