Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nestlé Purina U.S..
Marketing Associate
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. We discussed the role and company to see if it was a good fit. I then had a phone interview with the recruiter. The candidate schedules this call through a system. The interview process is detailed on Purina's website, so it's a good idea to check there since they stick to it closely. The first interview covers your skills, experience, background, why you're interested in the company, and why you're looking to switch jobs. They also ask a couple of behavioral questions at the end. The recruiter then sends the top candidates to the internal hiring team. If they select you, a recruiter will email you to set up about a 4-hour interview. I interviewed with three groups of two people each, all Senior Brand Managers or Directors from different teams for this role. Be ready to answer about 12 behavioral questions in depth. Familiarize yourself with behavioral interviews and write down all your projects. It's acceptable to use notes during the interview because they are assessing your behavior in those situations, not how much you've memorized. An offer call came about 7-10 days later. It's been a great experience at Nestle since then – a truly great company. Good luck, as the competition is intense. Put in the effort to prepare, and if your skills and behavior align with what they're looking for, it will work out. Once you're officially in the process (after the initial contact), recruiters are available to answer any questions you have, which is wonderful.

Applied online, got an email about a week later to schedule an initial phone screen. The call lasted about 45 minutes, where I went over my resume, talked about the role, and answered two behavioral questions. Almost two weeks after that, I got an email for the final round interview, which was 3 hours long with two interviewers per hour. They said to use the STAR method and research common behavioral questions for this type of role, being specific and connecting answers back to how they'd help in this position. The process was very organized, and everyone was helpful and nice, with resources provided for each step to help with preparation.
- Describe a situation where you needed to gain support from a particular group for a project or initiative. What steps did you take, and what was the result?
- Can you share an instance where you leveraged data to present a narrative?
- Tell me about a challenge you faced. How did you handle it, what was your approach, and what was the final outcome?
