Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NEPC.
Performance Analyst
I had 3 meetings in total. I spoke with two senior performance analysts and an HR person. The process was a bit messy; the HR person I was supposed to meet was in a meeting, so I had to wait around for about 20 minutes between interviews. They gave me a quiz that wasn't mentioned beforehand, but it was pretty simple.
- Could you explain the distinction between an investment manager and a custodian bank?
Performance Analyst
It was a really long interview process. I had several phone interviews, and then just one in-person interview. There was also a skills test, but it was super easy.
- Tell me about your experience with performance analysis.
- Can you give an example of when you used data to boost performance?
- What do you think about common performance metrics?
Performance Analyst
I had a Skype interview with four people, each lasting about 30 minutes. They all asked the same questions. Some interviews were short, and it felt like some interviewers weren't prepared. I wish there had been an initial phone call to discuss salary and job duties more. I only found out the salary from the HR person, who was the last interviewer. The pay is low, and the work is more data entry than data analytics, which wasn't clear from the online job posting. It's been about a month with no word, so I assume I didn't get the job. It felt like a waste of my time.
- Tell me about your strengths.
- What are your weaknesses?
- What's your favorite book?
