First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NEPC.
Controller
Met with the Recruiter, then interim CFO, Head of IT, and the Finance Manager. The entire process did span a few weeks, they were very selective for a good long term fit.
- How do you keep things organized?
Performance Analyst
I had a Skype interview with four people, each lasting about 30 minutes. They all asked the same questions. Some interviews were short, and it felt like some interviewers weren't prepared. I wish there had been an initial phone call to discuss salary and job duties more. I only found out the salary from the HR person, who was the last interviewer. The pay is low, and the work is more data entry than data analytics, which wasn't clear from the online job posting. It's been about a month with no word, so I assume I didn't get the job. It felt like a waste of my time.
- Tell me about your strengths.
- What are your weaknesses?
- What's your favorite book?
Supervisor
Had a phone screening with the hiring manager. There were 3 interviews, each lasting 30 minutes. It's usually not too bad if you know the basics. Ask questions and make sure you understand the role. Make sure you answer the questions asked rather than skirting around it.
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
- How do you handle situations with tight deadlines?
Performance Associate
First, there was a quick HR screening call, then a basic multiple choice quiz on financial knowledge. After that, I had three back-to-back interviews with the performance team's leadership, totaling 1.5 hours. Each of these was divided into thirds: technical, behavioral, and Q&A.
- What's a new skill you're interested in acquiring?
