First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at nearmap.
Deep Learning Specialist
The interview process included three stages. It kicked off with an HR call to check basic qualifications. Then, there was a technical interview with the Director of Deep Learning about my experience and technical knowledge. After that, I had a take-home ML assignment, which was pretty cool. The next technical interview was with the whole team, to go over my take-home project and dig into more technical stuff. The interviews themselves were good, but afterwards, the communication really dropped off. They didn't follow up or give any closure, even though the process said there'd be a final interview with the CEO. It felt unprofessional and kind of ruined what was otherwise a decent interview experience.

Customer Success Manager
The interview process was well-structured at first. It started with a phone vetting, then an interview with the hiring manager, and finally a presentation to the hiring manager and VP of Customer Success. It was pretty straightforward. Unfortunately, Talent Acquisition was on leave during the process, but colleagues stepped in to help. After presenting to the VP and Director of CS, there was very little communication. I found myself chasing for updates, and due to potential internal decisions, I was left unsure about my status. Eventually, after many attempts to get feedback on whether I was successful, I heard nothing back.
- How would you go about segmenting and prioritizing accounts within your portfolio?
Director of People Operations
Wow, what a candidate experience. I had a recruiter screening call at the end of December. It was a pretty standard discussion, but the recruiter mentioned that it was her last day at nearmap (she was a contract recruiter) and that other candidates were much further along. You probably shouldn't say those things in a first interview. A couple of weeks later, another recruiter contacted me, apologizing that I never had an interview but had been selected for screening. It seems like my first interview never happened. There was no record of our talk. So, I had a second first interview with another contract recruiter. The call went really well, we had a great discussion, and the recruiter told me to share my availability to speak with nearmap's VP of People and Culture, which I did. On the day of the next interview, about an hour before the call, the recruiter canceled my interview because the person I was supposed to speak with was traveling. She asked for my availability over the next few days to schedule another interviewer. I provided additional availability and never heard back. I followed up with the recruiter after about a week and got no response. If this is any indication of what it's like working at this company, I dodged a bullet.. this is NOT how you treat candidates in the interview process.
- Can you tell me about your background?
Bank Teller
First, you'll apply by sending in your resume and cover letter. Then, HR will look over everything and might give you a quick call. After that, you'll meet the hiring manager, maybe one-on-one or with a group. Sometimes there's a test or something to do. You might have another interview with more questions or the team. They'll also check your references. If they like you, you'll get a job offer and then do the paperwork and training.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
