First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NCH.
Sales
The interview process was very unstructured and informal. I was invited to an interview and traveled over 60 miles to attend. Everything seemed to go well, but I never heard back from the sales manager to let me know the outcome, so I assume it wasn't successful. When someone makes an effort to travel for an interview and take a day off, it's common courtesy to receive a response by phone, email, or letter. It's basic manners and really shows the company's ethos and culture. I found the whole experience to be quite unprofessional.

Sales
I applied through Linkedin and got a call from the recruiter the next day. We had a phone chat, and then she asked me to come in for an in-person meeting. During that meeting, she asked basic questions about my resume and HR sales questions like how I handled sales difficulties. Then, I got an email to meet with the company director. That meeting was more about getting to know me and seeing if I'd fit the company culture. They asked me back for another face-to-face meeting where I presented what I could bring to the company. The next day, they made me an offer, which I accepted. The whole experience was great, handled professionally, and everyone was nice.

Sales Representative
After applying online, I had a phone screen. Then there was an in-person interview with the manager that lasted 1-3 hours. They asked a lot of non-standard questions about my education, work history, and decision-making process. After that, I spent a day in the field with a sales rep. The second in-person interview was with the VP, also 1-3 hours, focusing on my commitment level. I'd recommend wearing a suit and tie for these interviews as they are quite professional and formal. It's important not to be too cocky, despite this being an outside sales role that needs enthusiasm. Showing long-term career interest, a persistent attitude, and a willingness to 'stick and stay' is beneficial. Prior hands-on product experience or being unafraid to 'get your hands dirty' is also helpful. I should have asked the sales rep more questions during the ride-along and been clearer on the compensation structure. I also regret not fully understanding the employment contract before signing. Be aware that you might drive 1500-2000 miles monthly in your personal vehicle.
