Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Navy Federal Credit Union.
Account Specialist
You start with an online interview that's just quick personal questions and making sure you get what the job entails. Then, there's a virtual interview where you role-play what it's like working in a contact center. This part focuses on not sharing member info and using your logic to figure out what members need and how to solve their issues. Lastly, you'll have a one-on-one meeting where they ask typical behavioral questions to see if you'd fit in at the company.
- Tell me about the biggest challenge you faced at a previous job.
- How did you handle situations where you disagreed with a coworker?
Account Specialist
I emailed a recruiter and they got back to me the same day to set up an interview that was 2-3 days out. The interview itself included common questions like how I'd be an asset to the company and why they should pick me.
- What makes you the right candidate for this role?
Account Specialist
I applied online back in July and a few weeks later got an email for a skills test. This test was like a virtual office thing asking how I'd respond to different situations and also had some math questions about percentages. I passed it even though math isn't my strong suit, so it wasn't too hard. I didn't hear back for months until September when they called me for an interview. First, there was a phone interview where they asked basic questions and explained the job. The next day, I went in for the in-person interview. The facility has a cool security system with ID badges to get in and out. In the lobby, there were two security guards. The HR recruiter took me to the interview room and reviewed my paperwork, which had generic questions needing short answers. Then, my interviewer came in. The interview itself was pretty short, maybe 20 minutes, and quite easy, with typical interview questions. They then talked about the company's history, some basic info, benefits, and bonuses, but not the salary. It was a relaxed interview. The following week, they called saying I was a candidate but hiring would take time. By October, they confirmed I'd start training in November with a base pay of $29,500, plus bonuses and extra pay for evenings/weekends. I could pick my shift, like Sunday-Friday with a weekday off or Monday-Saturday with Sunday off. They offered shifts like 3pm-12am, 5pm-2am, or 5am-2pm. The whole process took a long time, but it was worth it in the end.
- When was a time you had to communicate differently to a person in order to get what you wanted?
