After applying through my university's career services site, I had a behavioral phone interview with HR. About a week or two later, I was contacted by someone from the office I was interested in for an office interview. This office interview involved several one-on-one and panel interviews. We mostly discussed everyday topics, and the behavioral and personality fit questions didn't dominate the conversation, which I found enjoyable. It's important that you've researched the company and have some understanding of their consulting work. They're mainly looking for intelligent problem solvers; so whether your interest is in public accounting, management consulting, or investment banking, the experience at Navigant will definitely prepare you and give you an advantage.

I applied online and heard back for a phone interview two weeks later. A week after that, I got invited for an in-person interview which lasted three hours and involved meeting five employees. They all seemed great to work with, professional and courteous. I was told I'd hear back within a week and a half, unless everything went wrong. After not hearing anything, I followed up on the last day and was told the process wasn't finished yet. Five weeks later, I emailed again and learned that their corporate team was supposed to let me know I didn't get the offer, but they forgot about me even though I was one of five people who made it to the second round. They were nice, but really wasted my time.

It was two phone interviews with some upper-level people. The interview questions were mostly behavioral or situation-based (like, tell me about a time when you were challenged...). It was pretty laid back, but I'd suggest having comprehensive answers ready or at least being able to talk about all your experiences for a while.

  • Can you share an instance where you were asked to redo an assignment, and describe how you improved it?
