First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NatWest Group.
Risk Analyst
The interview process involved a group interview with a case study, followed by a one-on-one interview that also included a case study. Additionally, there was a separate one-on-one interview focusing on motivation questions. No technical questions were asked. A lunch break was included in between the interview segments. The case study presented during the interviews was centered around digital transformation and the evaluation of three distinct innovative strategies. This interview took place in Spring 2025, and the people I met were all very friendly.

Risk Analyst
This is about the salary discussion from yesterday for the Risk Analyst role. I want to highlight a few things. First, usually HR handles salary talks, but a manager without HR experience did it this time. He couldn't match my salary expectations and only offered a 40% raise. When I asked why, he mentioned my experience and academic background. He said my pay range couldn't be higher because my college isn't Tier 1, 2, or 3. It was weird to discuss my academics in a salary talk, especially since I'm not a newbie. It was really upsetting to hear my academic background was a factor influencing my pay. I asked if I could talk to HR about salary, but he said no and to finalize with him. When I asked for a salary breakdown, he said he doesn't even know what an offer letter looks like. He tried to convince me he wasn't being rude, just giving examples and that I was misinterpreting, and he wouldn't let me speak. He even gave examples of IIT graduates versus others from different tier universities. This behavior is unexpected from a reputable organization and sets a bad precedent. I still don't get why a manager was allowed to discuss salary. It would be more painful for someone else. I graduated from a top 10 engineering college in Bangalore and got placed in a top Indian MNC, my academic record is good. If he had given an honest reason for the lower salary range, I would have understood. But discussing my educational history was unnecessary and hurtful. Please look into this.

Risk Analyst
It was an internal transfer, so I had 1 face-to-face interview and 1 phone interview. Overall, it was a good experience, and I didn't notice anything negative, apart from an incompetent line manager. I don't have much else to add. It was a good experience with easy interviews.
