Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Natixis.
Software Developer
So there were two parts to the interview. First, we had a chat to get to know the company and the team. I talked about myself, and they threw in some technical questions too. These were about the tech I use, like object-oriented programming. Basic stuff such as class, interfaces. They also asked about dependency injection and some SQL knowledge, like triggers, procedures, and the differences between right, inner, and left joins.
- Can you elaborate on dependency injection and how SQL joins function?
- What are the differences between right joins, inner joins, and left joins in SQL?
Software Developer
I went through the interview process at Natixis for the Software Developer role. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to show off my technical skills. I was invited to an interview, but the way it went didn't let me present my abilities and experience well. I was ready to share my knowledge and experience, but there weren't any specific technical questions or practical exercises, which limited how much I could demonstrate my expertise. This might have affected how I was evaluated for the Software Developer job. I know interviews are tough selection processes, and I understand Natixis has its own rules and ways of evaluating. However, I'm disappointed I didn't get to show my technical knowledge and how I could contribute to the company.
- What is your name?
- How old are you?
- Tell me about your educational background.
Lead Developer
I was quickly contacted for an interview with the leads. This interview went very well with positive feedback from the company. A period of 2 months passed before the process resumed, largely due to uncertainties related to Swile's integration. The second interview was with an HR representative. A technical test followed, which was a take-home assignment with a classic development exercise and a code review. The goal isn't to trick the candidate but to assess their ability to produce clean code. Finally, a debrief of the technical test was conducted to review the results and discuss potential improvements.
- What do your colleagues think of you?
