First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nationwide.
Customer Service Representative
It went really well, there were two people who asked me behavioral questions and we talked about my background. It was pretty standard, no tricky questions or anything too technical. My advice is to check out the company website for research and be ready to explain how your experience matches what they're looking for in the job description.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Nationwide?
- How would you handle assisting a customer when you don't have all the answers?
Customer Service Representative
I applied online and got an email about 2 weeks later with a one-hour assessment and another application to complete. A week after that, I got a call from a different recruiter about an in-person interview, but I couldn't answer. I tried calling her back for a week with no luck. So, I emailed the first recruiter and scheduled the interview. I thought the interview went well, but a few days later, they emailed me to say they chose more qualified candidates, even though I felt I met all the qualifications.
- Can you share an instance of failure and how you rectified it?
Customer Service Representative
There was a lot of paperwork to fill out. The application process was lengthy, taking about 45 minutes to an hour. Then there was a 1-hour assessment, followed by a background check and a pre-interview questionnaire. After that, I was scheduled for an interview. It was a lengthy face-to-face interview, then a drug screen, and a follow-up phone interview. More paperwork was required to be filled out online before starting. It was the most comprehensive and time-consuming hiring process I've encountered, but I actually enjoyed it. I got positive vibes from the company immediately. They seem to really care about who they hire.
- From the folder they give you, pick three cards that you think represent you the best.
- At the end, you'll have to explain your choices for the three cards you picked.
