First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at National Veterinary Associates.
Staff Accountant
The interviewer had a terrible attitude the whole time. They asked super basic questions, then zoned out and would only reappear at the end of my answer. It was clear they weren't listening because they'd ask follow-ups that I'd already covered. They spoke in a monotone, had no personality, and acted like it was a waste of their time from the get-go. The hardest part was just not ending the interview right then.
- Can you explain the process of creating a journal entry?
Hospital Manager
I applied through Indeed and ended up doing 5 interviews in total. It started with a phone screen from a recruiter. Then, I had a call with the regional operations manager. After that, I had an in-person interview with the regional ops manager and the medical director. Next, I had a zoom interview with a multi-site manager and a division leader. The last one was a final in-person interview with the medical director. The whole thing took about a month and the interviews were pretty spread out, but they were definitely being selective.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to handle a conflict between employees and explain your approach.
Veterinarian
Met a representative at a career fair at Louisiana State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She was very helpful and we exchanged contact information. Had a scheduled phone call in which she got me in contact with an associate who was versed in the equine medical field. Then exchanged emails and a phone call with her who was able to show me jobs available in the equine field.
- Which area of veterinary medicine are you interested in pursuing?
Event Marketing Coordinator
It was a phone call that went on for more than an hour because the recruiter kept talking over me and interrupting. They also phrased questions in a really weird way, so I had to ask them to clarify several times. Even though my experience is extensive, especially with virtual events, the recruiter asked me if I understood the role wasn't just about technical stuff or virtual events. It felt pretty rude, especially since the job posting mentioned virtual web platforms. The recruiter's comments were genuinely offensive and made me feel really strange about the whole process, so I ended up declining to move forward. I really think this company needs to train their recruiters better because I honestly felt I could have done their job. Why would anyone want to work for a company where recruiters make unprofessional remarks and leave candidates feeling weird?
