Claims Adjuster
The interview process was really tough. They asked a lot of questions about customer service, hypothetical situations ('what ifs'), and past experiences ('tell me about a time'). It was important to back up all answers with real examples from my work history. They also dug deep into my understanding of company values and loyalty.
- Describe a challenging customer interaction you experienced and explain how you successfully resolved it.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer. What was your response, and how did you manage to turn the situation around?
- Can you provide an example of a difficult customer situation, your reaction to it, and how you managed to resolve it effectively?

So after applying, they send you an online virtual interview where you have to talk. First up, there's this 1-hour thing with two managers where they hit you with the usual STAR questions. Then, you gotta do a 45-minute "simulation," which is pretty chill. After that, it's a 30-minute call with the manager's boss and another manager. It was kinda weird though, HR/managers never called me to set up these interviews, they just scheduled them. During the first interview, I heard stuff about people working through breaks and lunch, which wasn't ideal for me. Out of nowhere, they asked about my current salary in that first chat, and wouldn't you know it, the offer matched it exactly. The job involves some Saturdays and these "secondary holidays" they mentioned. In the second interview, they asked about negotiations, which felt like they were trying to see if I'd push back or not. When the offer came, I had questions about promised raises and promotions, like a 5% bump after 90 days, but it wasn't in the offer letter. They hire a bunch of people every month (4-10), which screams high turnover. They said it's because some folks aren't a good fit, but losing 5-10% of staff monthly is a red flag. I applied for a trainee role, but the adjusters already there said they were offered an analyst role, which sounds better. The salary range on the job post was unclear, and even with my experience, I got offered a lower-level gig with a salary 20% less than others. The manager kept cutting me off during the interview, which, along with them not wanting to negotiate, made me say no to the offer. I wouldn't do this again or recommend it.
- What are two skills that your past managers would identify as areas for improvement for you?
- Could you tell me what your current salary is?
- Can you share an instance where you effectively negotiated during a job interview, and what does successful negotiation mean to you?

The hiring manager reached out to me for an interview. He was very upfront and persistent. After a few quick email exchanges, I set up an interview. During the interview, a lot of what the manager said about me wasn't correct, even with my updated resume. The questions were more personal than job-related. I was told someone would contact me for another interview, but they never did. After seeing reviews about high turnover, I'm relieved they didn't follow up.
- Tell me about your future goals.
- How do you feel about working with tight deadlines and time pressure?
- Is working with multiple computer screens something you're okay with?
