Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at National Corporate Housing.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process involved a lot of testing, and communication was primarily through email and phone. After the in-person interview, there was very poor to no follow-up. The one-on-one interview was the longest I've experienced. Ultimately, there was a lack of professional courtesy from both the corporate and local offices regarding the decision to move forward with another candidate. While that's acceptable, I gained experience from it. However, two hours of my time were spent on the interview after completing several time-consuming tests and participating in two other phone interviews. I had to follow up twice to receive a brief, dismissive response. I found it very thoughtless and unprofessional. Neither the hiring manager nor the HR representative I spoke with responded to my emails for almost two weeks! The way a company treats candidates before they potentially work there can be very telling. Companies need to recognize that they are also being evaluated during the interview process. Being dismissive of people's time really shows how they might treat their employees. I don't think it's too much to ask for some form of closing communication after an interview process.

Customer Service Representative
I talked to the General Manager on the phone first, which was a bit intense, but we got through it. Then I went in for an in person interview with her too. It was a good experience overall, even though I didn't end up getting the job. She told me about herself and the company, then asked me to describe myself and talk about my strengths and weaknesses.

Customer Service Representative
The interview process is long but not hard. It starts with a phone interview with an HR employee, followed by an in-person interview with the GM, and then a phone interview with the regional VP. It's the longest interview process I've ever had, but they are just making sure that they are hiring someone who is absolutely great for the position because the positions they offer are not positions that just anyone can perform. It takes the right person, and to avoid hiring/firing someone who ends up not working out, they executive team has a lengthy process to make sure they are hiring someone who is fit for the position.
- Can you name three of your biggest accomplishments?
- What aspects of your last job or career did you not like?
- What skills do you possess?
