I initially had an informational chat with the director to get a feel for the company and the position, after a referral from an exec. Things progressed to a formal interview, which also seemed to go well. Then, surprisingly, I spoke with the HR recruiter, a pretty high-level chat that also went well. The next part was strange: a week later, the recruiter informed me the director had left the company. The role was then being filled by another Sr PMM who was just promoted to director. Our conversation was awkward from the start, and even though I tried to be understanding about the transition, they seemed disengaged with my input. The following day, I learned the new director felt my experience wasn't a good fit, contradicting the prior views of the exec and the previous director. I later saw the job posting reposted by the new director, seeking new candidates. It left me with a bad impression, though I feel like I avoided a bad situation.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

So I had three interviews for this role. The first was with HR, then I spoke with the hiring manager, and the last one was a panel with various people from the company. The first two were pretty standard, but the last one really threw me for a loop and I didn't do great on those questions, which is probably why I didn't get the offer.

Behavioral Presentation Other

I was contacted and had a phone screen with the hiring manager, which went well. They wanted to schedule an in-person interview. They seemed unsure about who this role would report to, which was a bit of a red flag. I was scheduled for an in-person interview with a group, which included a presentation and several 1:1s. I had to ask how much time to set aside, and they scheduled me for 4 hours, though they initially said 2-3. I saw this as a positive sign they'd move quickly. However, they didn't mention the presentation until the last minute, giving me only a day and a half to prepare, which I found unprofessional. The assignment was to outline how I'd create a product page and draft content for an email announcement for a fictional product release. While the strategy made sense, creating content without research into the target market and desired voice/style felt off. On the day of the interview, I gave the presentation, then had two 1:1s. The recruiter then cut the interview short, stating I wasn't a fit, apparently based solely on the presentation. I asked for feedback, and they said my voice and style weren't aligned, which I found unhelpful given the lack of information provided. I felt they didn't know how to assess potential. I did like the people, culture, and product, though.
