Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nanyang Technological University.
Assistant Director
The interview process involved a presentation session with the interviewer. However, they never replied to any follow-up calls or emails. I called many times, but all calls went to voicemail. They also didn't bother to inform me about the outcome. It was a very bad experience with HR and ruined NTU's image.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Director
It was pretty informal. The people were nice. Two professors were on the panel and they were really keen to ask questions. The atmosphere was nice. Everything was set up about four days before, so I had plenty of time to get ready.
- Would transferring your responsibilities from your current role to this one present any challenges?
Assistant Director
The whole process was completely unprofessional. The HR team handled salary negotiations during a panel interview. Non-HR people were part of the negotiation, which was strange. The panel seemed out of touch and didn't grasp industry best practices.
- Can you tell me your last drawn salary and bonus, and what you are expecting now, along with your reasoning for this expectation fitting the role?
- What is your last drawn salary plus bonus? What are you expecting and why do you think its the right for the published role.
