Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at N-able.
Software Engineer
So after I passed this online test, I got invited to their office for an interview. There were 8 of us candidates in a room with 3 N-able employees. We had a quick chat in English, and then there was a short written test, which had 4 questions, and the last two were about algorithms. After that, we did a teamwork exercise where we all had to solve some problem together.
- Short written test (4 questions)
- Last 2 questions were short algorithmic problems
- Teamwork exercise to solve a problem
Software Engineer
There were 2 interview rounds. One was a preliminary round with just basic questions, and the second was a technical round with a bit more technical analysis and understanding. Since they work mostly related to Java technology, questions were mostly related to Java. Topics related to Java 8, class design etc are recommended. Also, Spring boot will be a plus if you know that.
- How would you implement a hash map and apply it to a similar problem?
Software Engineer
Applied through a job portal. Had an initial call with the recruiter who called out of the blue which was strange. Anyhow the recruiter sounded super excited and mentioned how a great fit I looked for the job. In the first call, recruiter mentioned to wrap the whole process till offer stage within a week. I had the first screening call with the hiring manager which was primarily about past experience. I was moved to the technical screening with 2 engineers few days later. They seemed unprepared and looked like asking questions while searching on internet. During this process, had probably talked to recruiter probably 5-6 times who always called out of the blue, and tried to sell the company and talked about how great people are, and how they treat each other well. I though the technical screen went well only to be ghosted afterwards. I tried to follow up over email but got no reply from recruiter. Very unprofessional as they seem to be selling the company on how great and courteous people are at N-able but can't treat their candidates with dignity.
- Tell me about your past experience.
- Can you explain Java?
- What are your thoughts on multi-threading?
