It was a group interview, but they claimed they didn't receive my reasonable accommodations request, even though I submitted it. They mentioned that my accommodation request might not have made it from the Melbourne main office, which was the reason given. (I did submit it, but it was very brief as they specifically only asked about accommodations for the interview itself)

I applied for a Christmas Casual role at Myer in Perth on Aug 10, 2016. Got an email on Aug 19 for a group 'casting session' in the city on Aug 31. You get an application form to fill out and bring. At the interview, a manager checks your name and you sit with 30-40 other people. The manager briefs everyone, making it feel relaxed. Then, groups go to the first stage: a role-play sales pitch to about 5 Myer managers. You give them your application form. You can check out products first to gather your thoughts. When selling, smile, ask questions, and highlight the product's benefits. They note your performance on your application form with a code (square, triangle, or nothing). Afterward, you go to another room for a quick 5-minute 1:1 interview with another manager. They ask general questions about you and why you want to work at Myer. My interviewer was direct and asked questions quickly. The whole process took an hour. The next day, I got an email saying my application was being considered. Six days later, I got an offer, which I had to accept. Then, a 'Welcome to Myer' email arrived with details on inductions and orientations.

I had a group interview in May. There were about 40 other people and 10 people per table. I found the entire process to be pointless, people were talking over each other in order to impress the observer which meant it was almost impossible to get a word in without shouting. I have well over five years experience within retail and was more than qualified for this role but I assume since I wasn't able to get a word in during the discussions I was overlooked. Group interviews with 40 people is a ridiculous way to recruit new team members.
