First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at My Gym Enterprises.
Teacher
The whole interview process took ages. First, a recruiter reached out, and then a week after that, I had an in-person audition where I actually joined a class. Another week passed before I heard back. It really feels like this company is quite slow-moving.
- How do you keep up the "my gym persona" when classes are really for the parents and very performative?
Teacher
I found the job posting on craigslist and applied through the My Gym website. The owner contacted me the very next day to schedule an interview for later that week. I went to the gym for an in-person interview and was told to wear comfortable clothes and socks. I only spoke with the owner, but it's pretty common to also talk to the director since that's who you'll be working with most of the time. Having been there for three years, I've noticed a pattern in who gets hired and who doesn't. You won't get hired if you're not super outgoing and loud. If you're timid, this job probably isn't for you. It was also clear that if you weren't in pretty good shape, you wouldn't last long. Like I said, it's a really energetic job and I'd often be sweating the whole shift.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with children?
- How would you handle a situation with a challenging parent?
- Could you memorize a puppet show and perform it for us now, with parents and children present?
Teacher
It was quick, fast, and easy. The focus is on the children and how they are. I met with a manager. They were very laid back and nice people. It was very smooth. The pay is still an unknown factor though. They train you for an hour on the first day to see how you are with kids.
- What is your availability?
