My Amazon Guy Brand Manager Interview Questions

This was a disappointing interview process. The questions were more about desktop troubleshooting and not relevant to the Brand Manager role. Although they mentioned training, it seems they expect you to already have extensive knowledge of flat files and Google Sheets. They also require you to have both a monitor and a laptop. The salary offered is extremely low, despite being advertised as competitive, at only 40-50k for a Brand Manager. I stated my salary expectation was above 80k in the first round, but they never disclosed their range. Instead, they kept me waiting and pushed me to accept a low salary. They talk a big game about their company, but the reality is disappointing. They seem to be looking for cheap labor rather than skilled or knowledgeable employees.

I applied through LinkedIn. The CEO reached out about a Cultural Index Survey. Then, I scheduled a video interview with someone from the hiring team. It was a good experience overall, though I had to complete the cultural index survey three times, which wasn't a huge time sink but showed a lack of internal coordination.

The application was a pain, lots of online tests and computer spec checks. The recruiters seemed outsourced, sending automated emails with all applicants visible instead of BCC. The whole experience felt really impersonal. They messed up and thought I applied for an internship when I applied for Account Director. The recruiter asked me a bunch of irrelevant questions from a script, all mixed up. I told her I didn't have Amazon experience, but she kept asking about Amazon-specific stuff like Brand Registry and Helium 10. Then we did a role-play where I had to sell a pen. They also re-verified my computer specs, which I'd already sent. They mentioned some job requirements: no side gigs, must work EST, use a time tracker, and complete company courses after hire. She asked my salary expectations but didn't know the budget range herself. When I asked about company size, hiring reasons, or timeline, I got vague answers. She wasn't sure about company size but knew they had US and international employees and contractors, hiring constantly due to growth and looking for people with Amazon experience because they hire and promote fast.
