Product Data Analyst
I went through 6 interviews for this role, starting with a recruiter phone screen where we talked about the job and if I'd be a good fit. Then I met with the hiring manager, three other employees, and the director of data analytics. My last interview was a bit different because a different hiring manager reached out to confirm my start date and answer my questions. At MX, they have this thing where they identify the top 5 qualities they want in a data analyst and then ask you a behavioral question to show you have it. They usually have two questions per quality, so don't hesitate to ask for the other one. The technical interview felt more like a quick quiz than a take-home assignment, which I don't think is the best way. They asked me about SQL and Python, and thankfully I had studied up, but the questions were more conceptual than practical. The communication throughout the process was just okay. The recruiter was nice but couldn't really give me any advice on how to prepare because she wasn't sure herself, so I was pretty much in the dark about what to expect for most of the interviews.
- Can you list all the data types available in Python?
- What distinguishes UNION from UNION ALL in SQL?
- Could you explain the function of INTERSECT in SQL?

The recruiter was great and the whole process felt really smooth. It was a multi-stage process. First, a recruiter screening, then a chat with the hiring manager. After that, I interviewed with two different data teams. Following those interviews, my previous colleagues were contacted for a reference check. Finally, I had an interview with the CxO's.
- What aspects of this particular role truly excite you?
- Given your background in highly technical positions, could you explain your motivation for choosing this role?
- How does your prior experience influence your interest in this position?
Product Data Analyst
There were two phone interviews, then a 3-hour on-site interview process with three separate interviews. The interviews were scheduled very last minute; I was notified the night before, and never received the confirmation email for the on-site interviews.
- Can you define what a tuple is?
