Driver
After the initial interview, there's a drug screen, a DOT physical, orientation, and training. Then, you'll do a mock obstacle course, drive with a driver, and finally, you'll be on your own.
- Do you have prior experience?
Driver
I applied on May 30, 2016, and was interviewed on June 3, 2016. I got hired the same day and started training the next day. The online application through the company website wasn't great, but going to the local site worked out best. Sometimes online applications are discouraging, so it's often better to go in person, especially if you know where the local office is. When you apply in person, there's a hiring official who can talk to you right away, and always bring a resume to show you're prepared and serious about the job. I used this in-person method for 3 jobs I found on Glassdoor, and I got 3 interviews and 3 offers. I took the third one because it felt like the best fit for what I wanted to do and offered a more fulfilling opportunity. So, this strategy might work for you too.
- What kinds of vehicles have you driven before?
- Are you aware of the ADA?
Driver
We're always looking for drivers. If you're interested, head over to the yard you want to work for and apply using their computer system. You'll need to provide your work history for the last 10 years. They offer training to help you get a commercial license. The interview involves about 30 minutes of simple questions.
- What's your approach when dealing with upset customers?
- How would you handle yourself in dangerous situations?
- How much do you prioritize safety?
