First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Murphy.
Civil Engineer
So the interview process had a few parts. First, we did a group exercise where we had to build the Eiffel Tower or a bridge using Lego. Then, in the first part of the interview, I had to present why I wanted to work for Murphy and also talk about any relevant experience like CW or internships. The second part of the interview involved answering about 4-5 general questions and 3 technical ones.
- Can you share an instance when you took the initiative to finish a task or project?
- Please explain your motivation for wanting to join Murphy.
- Could you discuss any relevant work experience or internships you have completed?
Quantity Surveyor
Had a phone call with the recruiter. They asked some questions about my personal life that didn't seem to relate to the job skills, more like checking if I could hold a good conversation to get to the next stage.
- Can you tell me about your biggest achievement?
- What's been your biggest setback?
- What do you do in your spare time?
Civil Engineer
We had two stages: first, a telephone interview which was a simple get-to-know-you and a review of my CV and experience. Then, a face-to-face interview where I had to create a presentation about myself and an aspect of the engineering industry I'm passionate about.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
- Could you walk us through your CV and experience?
- Prepare a presentation about yourself and a civil engineering industry topic you find particularly interesting.
