First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mullen.
Media Planner
After finishing an internship at Mullen, I interviewed for a couple of positions. The interviews were set up, and I ended up chatting with about 5-6 different people over roughly 4 hours. They were all pretty casual and conversational. Most of them were laid-back, but there was one person who seemed determined to rush through the interview. I encountered typical interview questions along with some really out-there creative ones, many of which seemed unrelated.
- What component of a salad would you be if you had to choose?

HR contacted me by phone for a brief chat. We talked about my interest in the role and my availability for an interview. We rescheduled from Monday to Tuesday, and I was told she'd call back with the time. She actually called Monday at 5 PM to confirm the interview for the next day. When I arrived, I was given a list of 6 people I'd be meeting, each for a 30-minute slot. The day concluded with an Excel aptitude test. The entire interview process spanned about 5 hours. Each person I met asked a few resume-related questions. Most of the time was spent discussing the advertising industry and the details of the role. It felt very relaxed and open. I heard back a week later, and they said I lacked sufficient agency experience. Despite that, it was a good experience, and I enjoyed our conversation about current marketing campaigns and the company.
- What's something you're currently working on improving about yourself?
Media Planner
I met with 3 people and each meeting was about 20 minutes long. It was a very conversational process. They were mostly looking for personality fit and confidence, assuming that if they see your resume and think you're qualified, those are the main things they're looking for.
- Tell me about your favorite campaign that Mullen has produced.
- Which campaign produced by another company is your favorite?
- What is your favorite brand and explain your reasoning.
