So the first part was like two coding problems done from home, and also an English test with multiple choice questions, and you had to write a bit about yourself. If you passed that, then you went on to three interviews in person. The first one was with the team leader, a technical interview where I had to solve two problems in an hour. The second was an hour with the hiring manager, asking about me, what I like, and my hopes for the job. The third was a remote interview, about 30 minutes, kinda like the second but with a different team leader who was more senior, and they asked about me and my experience.

What others say about Mulesoft's interview process is true - it's really bad and broken. It was a super long process. Started with a recruiter call, and since we seemed like a good fit, I was sent to do the Karat interview. The Karat interview was standard, covering my background and then asking me to pick two out of four topics (Web APIs, Networking/Security, Databases, Performance/testing) for deeper questions. That went okay. Then came the standard matrix question about finding rectangles of 1s surrounded by 0s, which also went fine. After that, I was invited for an onsite interview. The onsite had four parts: first, a behavioral interview with the Hiring Manager; second, a whiteboarding session with an engineer who was unclear about his expectations; third, a coding exercise I completed; and fourth, another behavioral interview with the Head of Engineering. There was even a final round with the Chief Product Officer. Everything seemed to go well, and I was told an offer would be coming soon as the recruiter was handling it. But then, at the last minute, I got a call saying they decided against making an offer. The reasons were really vague, something about being data-driven and always re-evaluating candidates. Why even have the whole process then? This company's interview process is seriously flawed, just like many others have noted on Glassdoor, and they're losing good, interested candidates because of it. This is my first Glassdoor review, and I'm only writing it to warn people about what they're getting into with this company. They are very indecisive and have a slow, annoying, and fickle interview process.

So I had this initial tech screen with a third party, Karat, which I passed. If they thought I was good enough, I'd then get to talk to the recruiter. They'd review my resume and background. Then, they'd decide if I was worth moving forward with, which sounded like it would take a while. But then the recruiter told me later they weren't moving forward with me. It's weird to make me do a tech screening, especially with a third party, only to reject me based on my resume, especially since my resume's what got me the screening in the first place? Just show some respect for applicants' time. I've interviewed with a lot of companies lately, and Mulesoft is the first where I felt disrespected. Other companies use Karat too, but they were more polite. I definitely won't apply here again and will tell my friends not to either. Seriously. Show some respect. Mulesoft left a really bad impression.
