Behavioral Group Presentation

You start by applying online and answering some really interesting questions about their products and why you like them. If you make it past that, you'll get a notification for the first interview. This is a group interview with two candidates at a time in one room, but with a small divider. One person speaks English, and the other speaks Japanese with a translator. They don't ask technical questions, which I liked; instead, they focus on the company's philosophy and assess your interest and reasons for choosing MUJI. The second interview is about 1-2 days later, with three assessors who will ask you questions in Japanese (there's a translator). They mostly repeat questions from the first round but might ask one step further, like how you would improve MUJI.

One-on-one with the manager. It felt really personal, like they were genuinely interested in getting to know you. They wanted to see if you connected with the brand and the company, as if they cared deeply about your belief in the company's future success. They were also upfront about the hours and pay for the role.

Behavioral Case

I got a call from Asian Job Express, their HR partner, saying I made it past the screening. They set up an interview for the weekend right after. I did some research beforehand and found a Glassdoor page for MUJI MT interviews, and my experience was pretty much the same. The interview space was split into two areas. One interviewer was a Japanese guy with good English, and the other two spoke Japanese (they interviewed another candidate in Japanese, which I could hear). The Japanese interviewer really pushed back on everything I said, just like another person commented online. He didn't ask about my background or past work experience. Pretty much all the questions were about 'Pleasant Life'.
