Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MSL.
Account Executive
The interview process felt rushed and unclear. There was no transparency about the specific role they were hiring for or the salary range, which is unusual for agencies that typically disclose this information upfront to save everyone time. It seemed like they were using the Publicis name to offer low pay and hoping to attract candidates who valued the brand name on their resume. The HR team was fair and considerate. However, some mid-senior level people on the Digital Marketing team need to improve their interview environment; mine was conducted in a very noisy area of the office, which was distracting and felt a bit demeaning. Candidates put a lot of effort into preparing for interviews, and it's not unreasonable to expect interviewers to provide a professional setting.
- Can you describe your past work experience and the skills you've acquired from it?
Account Executive
The interview process was pretty seamless. I had phone interviews with the HR VP and the HR Associate, asking basic questions about my past experience. Then I spoke with two Account Supervisors, who were both pleasant. My final interview was via Skype with the Managing Partner, which was a great and quick interview. Everyone was nice and helpful. I just wish they offered more incentives to those relocating, sort of shows you invest in your people.
- Can you describe your work style?
- How do you stay organized?
- What would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Account Executive
The interview process was pretty typical and everyone was very nice. I was given a writing assessment, which was pretty standard but I spent about 5-6 hours on it. I submitted it on time and then.... silence. I followed up a few times and then heard back two weeks later that they hired someone else, which was frustrating.
- Could you describe a recent campaign that you found appealing and explain your reasoning?
