Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MSCI.
Real Estate Analyst
The interview had one one-on-one round that lasted 30 minutes. There were two panelists, and they were really nice and put me at ease. They asked a lot about my CV, my extracurriculars, and my project. After this first part, there was a second round, which was a 10-minute online session.
- Regarding mutual funds versus direct stock investments, what's the rationale for investing in mutual funds if direct stock investment is an option?
Real Estate Analyst
The interview process started with a random phone interview. Then there was a writing test which included a markets-related quiz and a case study. After that, there were two back-to-back interviews, one technical and one behavioral, focusing on my resume. Finally, there was an HR interview to check requirements. It seems like there might be a background check and offer stage afterwards.
- What factors would you take into account when determining the value of a property?
Real Estate Analyst
It was a pretty long process. We started with two written tests, and they cut people who didn't do well. After that, there were two technical rounds, and then finally, a chat with HR.
- Questions covered general finance topics.
- Can you provide an example of a capital expenditure?
- What's your approach to pricing commodity futures?
