So I interviewed for the Technology and Data Intern role at MSCI, and it was pretty cool. It started with an online test, then three rounds total: two tech interviews and one HR one. The tech ones covered data structures, algorithms, web dev, and DevOps, checking how I'd use them in the real world. The HR interview was about my tech and data interests, and stuff like teamwork and solving problems. The interviewers were really nice and made it easy to talk. They gave good feedback too. Happy to say I got the offer! It was a great experience, super smooth process.

The interview process was pathetic, to say the least. No feedback, no response on follow ups. Just because we are at the start of our career and eagerly look forward to land our dream job, doesn't mean that MSCI can treat us in such a disappointing manner !! Your representatives have a superiority complex and are highly arrogant.

Technical Coding Behavioral

So I had this interview, it was like three parts. First two were technical, and then the last one was HR. The tech parts were pretty tough, like, medium to hard DSA questions. They really wanted to see how I’d solve problems, coding stuff, and if I really got algorithms, how long things would take to run, and how to move data around. They also asked about computer science basics like OOP, databases, and OS. For OOP, they asked about inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and design patterns, and how to actually use them. For databases, it was all about normalization, SQL, transactions, and indexing – like, how to build and speed up databases. For OS, they covered processes, threads, memory, and how things sync up, especially with lots of threads. After getting through the tech stuff, the HR person talked to me. That was more about me as a person, like fitting in, talking to people, and if I was on the same page with the company. They wanted to know why I wanted the job, if I’m good in a team, and how I deal with tough situations or pressure.
