Financial Analyst
So I applied for this Financial Analyst job at MSCI, and the interview process was pretty tough but ended up being good. First, there was a phone screen, just a quick chat. Then, a technical interview where they really tested my finance knowledge. After that, a behavioral interview to check out my soft skills, and then a case study so I could show how I solve problems. The last interview was with the big bosses, which was a good chance to talk about my future career plans and how I'd fit into MSCI. It was hard but I learned a lot about the company and the job.
- What is the meaning of the acronym IRR?
Financial Analyst
There are two interview stages: The first is a more basic check to see if your CV and work experience fit the role, and it includes some technical questions. The second interview is more HR-like, using STAR questions to check your behavior, soft skills, and how you deal with different scenarios.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What is your understanding of this position?
- Describe your approach to handling repetitive tasks.
Financial Analyst
It was a pretty straightforward process. Expect difficult rounds though, so always be ready for all kinds of questions. Make sure to study up on real estate markets and be really solid on current market conditions. You should practice with sample questions for real estate and financial analyst roles to get a feel for it. Also, read up on the company, what they do, their values, and how you could contribute if you worked there.
- Can you discuss financial ratios?
- How would you approach valuation models?
- What are some real estate products you are familiar with?
