I got an unexpected call pretty soon after applying on LinkedIn for the Outside Sales Rep role. The hiring manager mentioned they don't usually interview people not in California, but my resume was strong enough to warrant a chat. The first call was about 40 minutes and felt really positive. Then, radio silence for three weeks. I reached out on LinkedIn, and a few days later, the same hiring manager called back and basically repeated all the same questions from the first call. After that, she set up a phone interview with the regional manager. This call happened the next evening, but the manager was driving and in and out of her car the whole time, asking really basic questions about my past jobs. The next day, I got an email saying they weren't moving forward, citing my answers about why I left previous jobs as the reason.

I was approached at my college. First interview was very easy, just basic questions about your background and experience. Second you meet with an executive staff member and questions get a little harder. Final interview they made you pitch yourself to executive staff. Then you had to meet the president Bob for final approval. Sales managers seemed to hide the truth to make you want the job.

It was a 3-stage interview process. The final stage was a sales presentation in front of senior management. It was a good experience and really helped to filter out those who weren't quite ready for an entry-level sales role.
