It was a good experience interviewing with the team. First, I had a call with the Senior Talent Acquisition Manager to see if I was a good fit for the role. Then, I had a technical interview with a Senior Designer and someone from Development where I showed my portfolio and answered some coding questions because the job needs someone who can code. They were really nice and answered all my questions, making it feel open and comfortable. Just a heads up, they usually don't sponsor visas for this job, unless it's a special situation.

The first interview was a good chat. The interviewer was nice and attentive, but couldn't answer some of my questions and said they would be addressed in the next round. The second interview, however, was a letdown. Nobody joined the initial Zoom call, and when it was rescheduled, the interviewers were late. The questions were quite basic and didn't seem well-prepared. The two guys running the second interview seemed arrogant and uninterested, like they didn't really care about the conversation. They asked about my camera experience, which I have, and when I asked about training to improve my skills, they said it wasn't needed because they have a pamphlet and another department handles detailed questions. Overall, the whole thing felt messy and rude, giving me a bad feeling about how the company is organized and communicates.

Behavioral Presentation

So I had a 3-stage interview process, which involved 2 calls with the team and then a presentation. They said I'd hear back 'early next week' after the final stage, but then I didn't hear anything from them for 14 days. I called and messaged them multiple times to get an update. It was pretty shocking that they left me hanging for so long without any contact, especially when they said I'd know soon. I spent about 25-30 hours preparing slides, interviewing, and travelling for the face-to-face interview. The only 'feedback' I got was that the other candidate was a better fit for their 'ways of working'. Honestly, for the time I put in, that feedback was a joke. I asked for more constructive feedback, but they just ignored me. I get that someone's gotta be disappointed, but no answer a week after they said I'd hear back, and no feedback at all after putting in so much time and effort, is just a disgrace.

3 rounds - excluding an initial screening call with a 3rd party recruiter. A call with a hiring manager, then a technical interview, then a "culture interview". The whole process dragged for one month and a half, and after many affirmations that they would like to make a decision and make a hire they came back and said they didn't want to hire after all. Overall a very frustrating experience. Initial round was a "get to know each other" round with no substantial questions. Something along the lines of "Why did you decide to apply". Second round was an interview with another Lead Engineer - an easy-grade leetcode problem interactive programming session. Then a "culture interview" with a Project Manager and Scrum Master - the "Describe the time you've successfully dealt with a conflict", "Describe the time you set yourself a goal at work and how did you achieve it"

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Tell me about a time you successfully handled a conflict at work.
  • Why did you choose to apply and what do you hope to get from this role?
