First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Movable Ink.
Front End Developer
First I had a preliminary phone screen, then a coding assessment and a Github assessment which I had 2 hours to finish. After that, there was an hour long interview with three team members. This was split into code review, tech questions, and general questions.
- Can you tell me about your current job?
Front End Developer
The hiring process was pretty simple and the recruiter was great to work with. It started with a coding challenge that was pretty easy, mainly involving object and array manipulation. Next, there was a take-home project that took about 1-2 hours to complete and was actually quite fun. The third step was a Zoom call with three engineers from the team where we discussed the take-home project. They asked about code optimization and then followed up with general web-related technical questions, plus a few situational and behavioral ones. I really enjoyed this round because I got to meet the engineers, and they all seemed happy working there. The last round involved meeting a product director and a future teammate, which felt more like an opportunity for me to ask questions. The engineer I met was friendly and positive about the company. Compared to other companies I was interviewing with, Movable Ink's process was the best; I didn't feel pressured or tricked by any tricky questions.
- Can you explain the differences between APIs and web scraping?
Front End Developer
So first there was this phone screen with a recruiter, then they gave me a take-home assignment. After that, I had to do another take-home assignment that took about 2 hours. If you passed those, you go to a technical panel interview. In that interview, we talked about the take-home assignment, and they asked some JS questions and scenario technical questions.
