First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mott MacDonald.
Process Engineer
This involved 2 stages. The first stage was about my CV and past experience. The second stage was a deeper dive into my CV and experience, plus some written questions about project management and process engineering, all based on a case study. I had 10 mins to read the case and answer the questions, then 15 mins to go over the questions and answers with the interviewer.
- Can you elaborate on your past experience, covering technical details, project management, and soft skills?
Process Engineer
After my resume was selected, I was invited for an interview. I arrived at the office on time and asked for the HR person who came to meet me. He asked me to wait for about 5 minutes. Then, I was introduced to the head of the process department. He conducted a technical interview that lasted for about an hour and 5 minutes. The questions covered areas like fluid dynamics, heat transfer, pumps, and P&ID. I also had a brief interview with HR where they asked about my family background. Immediately after the HR round, the HR and technical teams conferred, and within 10 minutes, I was confirmed for the role. The HR congratulated me and informed me that the job offer would be sent via email.
- Can you identify the two most common and critical unit operations in chemical plants?
- Could you explain the working principle of a centrifugal pump and define NPSHa?
Process Engineer
The interview process was quite lengthy. A lot of time was spent discussing company policies, and we were required to write a substantial amount about why we were interested in the company. Despite putting in a lot of effort, it didn't seem to lead to much in return compared to others.
