Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mott MacDonald.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
The interview was pretty chill and easygoing. It started with a quick hello and some general questions about my background. The interviewer was more interested in getting to know me, what I'm into, and my career aspirations rather than asking super technical stuff. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview. Overall, it was a friendly and comfortable experience.
- Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
- What's your preferred style of supervision?
- Describe the kind of leader you envision yourself becoming.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
First, you'll need to get a ppt ready for your self-introduction. They'll then ask you questions about your presentation. The whole interview will be conducted in English. They might ask about your design experience, how it works, and how you collaborate in a group.
- How do you collaborate with other services engineers for a combined service design?
Graduate Engineer Trainee
Started with an online application where I had to explain why I wanted the role and how my background fit. Then there was an online technical test covering Python, basic SQL, dataframes, and using an API to get data from a website. The last interview was with two data scientists where we discussed my motivations for working at MM, cloud computing technicalities, and some behavioral questions. The interviewers were friendly, but one seemed disengaged, which was a bit of a downer.
- Can you tell us what you know about cloud computing?
- How would you handle a situation where your manager tells you to abandon a project midway to start a new one?
- Could you explain a technical concept in a very simple way for us?
