Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Motivus.
Senior Consultant
The interview process was tough, it included three interviews. First was an HR interview over the phone which happened the day after I applied on a Friday, covering my background and career aspirations. Next was a technical phone interview the following Tuesday, which was high-level but touched on specifics of my tech stack. The final interview was two days later on Thursday and was challenging, diving deep into designing database interactions using CQRS methodology, even though I mentioned I had no prior experience with it.
- Can you whiteboard the design for a CQRS system?
Consultant
They first gave me a test through an app. The questions were about technical knowledge, not too advanced since it was a junior position. Then, in a second stage, they did a really fun activity where they assessed teamwork and problem-solving skills. I was told I got the job, but they never gave me any more info about the onboarding process. I asked and was told to wait, but they never contacted me again.
- What does SQL mean?
- How do you perform a select statement?
- How do you perform a query with information from more than one table?
Consultant
It was a great process that took over a month and had multiple interviews. I liked that they had an in-person meeting with me before making the offer to see where I stood. It wasn't the recruiter, but the hiring manager I met with.
- Can you detail your understanding of frameworks from front to back that you will be implementing?
- They tested my knowledge to ensure I understood how to approach different organizational sizes and the tools to use in each.
- Explain how you would select and utilize tools for varying organizational sizes and contexts.
