Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Motion Recruitment.
Recruiter
It was a fast interview process, it felt like they really needed to hire someone quickly and didn't put much thought into who. The office space is quite small, and it seems like people are overworked there. I also didn't like that in the final interview they used trick questions, as if they wanted me to fail.
- Can you tell me about your weakest personal trait?
Technical Recruiter
The first interview was pretty standard for a preliminary interview. The final round requires an in-office visit for a mock sales meeting with a "client." The overall culture and directors felt like a fraternity, and I didn't like that they expect you to build your own client book from scratch. The starting salary is only $40k, and you only get a $50k base after 9 months to a year once you've landed 10 clients, which is below market rate.
- Tell me about your experience.
- Do you find sales enjoyable?
- Can you describe some challenges you've faced and how you overcame them?
Recruiter
It was a 3 step process. First was a discovery call to learn more about the opportunity, and they asked me questions about my background, experience, and interest in recruiting. Then, they invited me in to meet with managers for a bunch of 1-on-1s. They asked more questions about my background, explained their environment, how they work, their training, and compensation. Finally, there was a round where they really grilled me on motivation, career growth, and alignment with the culture.
- What's your interest in recruiting?
- Why'd you apply to our job?
- What do you know about the tech sector?
