Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mortenson.
Electrical Engineer
The interview process was super straightforward. They asked questions about my resume and what I'm looking for in a job. Mostly behavioral stuff. It was a pretty easy interview overall. Make sure you do your research on the company too.
- Could you share an instance where you were part of a group project and describe your role within that team?
Electrical Engineer Intern
I got an interview request via email, which also told me to apply for the job. The interview itself was pretty straightforward with mostly behavioral questions. The interviewer wasn't from HR but knew about the field, asked good questions, and was easy to talk to.
- Tell me about a time you faced a problem and how you collaborated with a group to resolve it.
Electrical Engineer
I had an initial call with a recruiter where they asked about my background. It turned out the job I applied for, Electrical Project Manager, wasn't what I was interviewing for, which was confusing because they use misleading titles. It seems they might lower pay and benefits by switching roles. After the recruiter call, I had a video interview with the operations manager for an Electrical Engineer role, even though I'm already a Project Manager.
- Can you describe a project conflict you faced and how you resolved it?
